Washington, D.C. (Oct. 12, 2025)—Thousands of believers from across the United States converged on the National Mall this weekend in a bold public display of faith: a mile-long communion table stretching from the Washington Monument to Capitol Hill, as part of the four-day Communion America gathering. The event, organized by Awaken the Dawn and allied ministries, invited Christians of all states, backgrounds, and generations to unite in repentance, worship, and remembrance of Jesus’ body and blood. This moment of public communion comes just weeks before AWAKE DC on November 15—an AWAKE America Rally focused on calling the nation to revival, prayer, and renewal from the heart of our capital.
What Is “Communion America”?
50 Tents, 50 States, 1 Table
The gathering ran October 9–12, 2025, featuring 50 tents—one for each state—hosting round-the-clock worship, prayer, healing ministry, outreach, and gospel proclamation.
On Saturday, October 11, the event’s centerpiece took shape: “a communion table the length of the whole National Mall,” intended as the longest communion table in history.
Event organizers described Communion America as a “communion revival”—not a spectacle, they say, but a spiritual act intended to call America back to Jesus.
Evidence of Awakening
“America is a great country … it is very great to see all these people come together … to worship the Lord.”
Participant Reflections & Leadership Perspectives
From the stage and among the crowd, the narrative was both personal and national:
- Lou Engle described Communion America as the fulfillment of a 22-year dream rooted in revival imagery.
- David Bradshaw emphasized that the church must move beyond walls and into public witness.
- Samuel Tesfaye, a youth participant from Virginia, shared his amazement at multiethnic worship on the Mall.
- Andrea Lafferty tied the worship to America’s brokenness and need for spiritual speaking.
“I believe that God is calling the Church outside the four walls.” – David Bradshaw, Communion America organizer

God’s Word Applied
Romans 12:1–2 calls believers to present their “bodies as a living sacrifice,” not conformed to the world but transformed by renewing the mind. Gathering corporately around the Lord’s Table in public can function as a symbolic offering before the nation—a visible act of obedience and unity in Christ.
Yet Scripture also warns that participation in communion is not to be taken lightly:
“Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 11:27)
From a Christian perspective, the power of communion is not in spectacle but in holy remembrance, confession, and unity in truth. When believers gather in reverence, humility, and doctrinal alignment, the table can speak louder than any rally. The Lord calls us to taste and see, to examine ourselves (1 Cor 11:28), and to approach with humility and faith.
