How to Pray for Your Workplace: 7 Biblical Prayers for Coworkers, Leaders, and Gospel Opportunities

Revival should not stop at the church doors.

Every week, millions of Christians walk into offices  ,classrooms, hospitals, construction sites, stores, factories, government buildings, and countless other workplaces. They sit beside people who may never enter a church, open a Bible, or hear a clear presentation of the Gospel.

God has placed His people in these places for a purpose.

Your workplace is not merely where you earn a paycheck. It is one of the places where God has called you to live faithfully, demonstrate the character of Christ, pray for the lost, and be prepared to speak the Truth of the Gospel.

Jesus said His followers are the “light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). That calling does not disappear when we clock in for work.

If America desperately needs spiritual awakening, and it does, then believers must begin praying for revival wherever God has placed them.

Here are seven Biblical ways to pray for your workplace.

1. Pray for the Salvation of Your Coworkers

Before you pray for better circumstances at work, pray for something infinitely greater: the salvation of the people around you.

Scripture tells us that God desires people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth (1 Timothy 2:3–4).

Think about the people you encounter every week. Do you know where they stand with Jesus Christ? Are you regularly bringing their names before the Lord?

Do not allow familiarity to dull your spiritual concern for them. The coworker sitting across from you has an eternal soul.

Prayer Focus: Lord, open the eyes of those around me to their need for Jesus Christ. Draw them to repentance and saving faith, and give me opportunities to faithfully point them to the Gospel.

2. Pray for Courage to Speak About Christ

Many believers want to share their faith but remain silent because of fear—fear of rejection, embarrassment, conflict, or professional consequences.

The apostle Paul understood the need for courage. He encouraged believers to pray that God would open doors for the Gospel and enable him to proclaim it clearly (Colossians 4:3–4).

We need that same boldness today.

Faithful Christian witness does not mean being careless or unnecessarily confrontational. But neither does it mean hiding our allegiance to Christ.

Prayer Focus: Lord, deliver me from the fear of man. Give me wisdom, courage, and open doors to speak clearly about Jesus Christ when You provide the opportunity.

3. Pray That Your Conduct Reflects Christ

Your words matter. So does the way you work.

Jesus commanded His followers to let their light shine so others would see their good works and glorify their Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

Christians should be known for integrity, diligence, humility, honesty, compassion, and excellence. Gossip, dishonesty, laziness, bitterness, and constant complaining undermine our testimony.

Before asking God to change your workplace, ask Him to examine your own heart.

Prayer Focus: Father, reveal anything in my attitude or conduct that dishonors You. Help me work with integrity and excellence so that my life strengthens rather than contradicts my witness for Christ.

4. Pray for Wisdom in Difficult Conversations

Workplaces can be filled with disagreements, ethical dilemmas, strained relationships, and conversations about controversial issues.

You will not always know immediately what to say, but Scripture gives believers a clear instruction: Ask God for wisdom (James 1:5).

Biblical courage and Biblical wisdom belong together. We must never compromise Truth merely to avoid discomfort, but we should also seek to speak with discernment, grace, and self-control.

Prayer Focus: Lord, give me wisdom in every difficult conversation. Guard my tongue, strengthen my convictions, and help me speak Truth in a manner that honors Christ.

5. Pray for Your Employer and Leaders

It is easy to criticize leaders. It requires spiritual maturity to pray for them.

First Timothy 2:1–2 calls believers to pray for those in authority. That principle should shape how we respond to supervisors, executives, business owners, and others entrusted with leadership.

Whether you agree with every decision they make is not the point. Christians are called to pray.

Ask God to give your leaders wisdom, integrity, humility, and discernment. Pray especially for those who do not know Christ.

Prayer Focus: Lord, give those in authority wisdom to make righteous decisions. Draw unbelieving leaders to Christ, strengthen believers in leadership, and help me respond to authority in a way that honors You.

6. Pray Against Compromise and Fear

The pressure to conform to the world is real.

Romans 12:2 commands believers not to conform to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of their minds.

Your workplace may place you in situations where Biblical conviction is unpopular. Determine beforehand that your allegiance belongs to Christ.

Career advancement, acceptance, comfort, and reputation are never worth disobedience to God.

Prayer Focus: Father, give me courage to obey Your Word when compromise would be easier. Renew my mind through Scripture and strengthen me to stand firmly upon Biblical Truth.

7. Pray for Spiritual Awakening in Your Workplace

Never underestimate what God can do when one faithful believer begins to pray.

In Acts 16, Paul and Silas worshiped and prayed while imprisoned. Before the night was over, a jailer and his household heard the Gospel and believed in Christ (Acts 16:25–34).

God is still sovereign over circumstances, conversations, relationships, and human hearts.

So pray big prayers.

Pray that coworkers will come to Christ. Pray that other Christians in your workplace will become bold witnesses. Pray for Bible studies to begin. Pray for prodigals to return. Pray for hardened hearts to soften. Pray for conversations that lead to the Gospel.

Prayer Focus: Lord, bring spiritual awakening to this workplace. Revive believers, save the lost, open doors for the Gospel, and use me however You choose for the glory of Jesus Christ.

Your Workplace Is a Mission Field

America’s deepest crisis is spiritual, and spiritual problems cannot ultimately be solved through politics, institutions, corporate policies, or cultural reform. Our nation needs transformed hearts.

That is why revival must begin with the people of God seeking Him in repentance, prayer, obedience, and faithful Gospel witness—an emphasis at the heart of AWAKE America’s call for spiritual awakening across the nation.

Your workplace may be one of the very places God intends to use your prayers and your witness.

So begin with the people closest to you.

Write down the names of three coworkers who need Christ. Pray for them consistently. Ask God for opportunities to serve them, encourage them, and speak Truth to them. Then remain alert for the doors He opens.

What would happen if Christians across America began praying by name for the people they work beside every day?

Homes could change. Workplaces could change. Communities could change.

And most importantly, lost men and women could hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Do not wait for someone else to begin.

Pray where God has placed you. Stand firmly upon His Word. And faithfully make Christ known.
