SANDPOINT, ID. (May 13, 2026) — A youth-led National Day of Prayer gathering in Sandpoint, Idaho, drew between 100 and 150 residents this month as students led worship, Scripture-centered prayers, and public calls for revival in America. According to the Bonner County Daily Bee, the May 7 event marked the first student-led National Day of Prayer observance in the city’s history. ,

Held at Farmin Park in downtown Sandpoint, the event united local churches, families, business owners, educators, and students in a public prayer gathering focused on revival, Christian unity, and spiritual renewal.

Youth-Led Revival Gathering Marks Historic Shift

According to reporting by Caroline Lobsinger for the Bonner County Daily Bee, local students led both worship music and public prayer throughout the hour-long gathering. Youth Pastor Wil Bush of Hidden Valley Worship Center coordinated the event in partnership with Pray7B.

Bush told attendees the gathering represented more than a civic observance.

“Revival does not go where prayer has not been,” Bush said. “If we want to see a move of God in this city, in this generation, it begins in moments like this.”

The event emphasized prayer over America’s churches, schools, media, businesses, military, and government leaders. Students publicly prayed for families, community safety, and spiritual awakening.

According to the Daily Bee, student participant Eli Norling prayed specifically for churches to remain rooted in Biblical truth and unity. Aaron Kent prayed for families and called on believers to place God first in their homes.

Christian Revival News Continues to Emerge Across America

The Sandpoint gathering comes amid increasing reports of student-led prayer movements and revival gatherings nationwide. Organizers noted the event’s afternoon format helped attract more teens and families than previous years.

Community Leaders Emphasize Ongoing Prayer

Pastor Chris Bassett, who has helped organize Sandpoint’s National Day of Prayer observances for more than a decade, wrote in a community commentary that the next generation’s involvement brought “fresh life” to the annual tradition.

Bassett encouraged residents to continue praying beyond the annual observance.

According to his published remarks, organizers specifically urged prayer for:

  • Schools and educators
  • Law enforcement and first responders
  • Government officials
  • Families and local churches
  • Community unity and safety

The National Day of Prayer was established by Congress in 1952 and has been observed annually on the first Thursday of May since 1988.

A Call to Biblical Prayer

For many believers, the visible involvement of young people in public worship and prayer reflects a growing spiritual hunger among Gen Z Christians.

Scripture repeatedly points to the role of younger generations in calling people back to God. In 1 Timothy 4:12, the Apostle Paul writes:

“Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

Christians across America continue praying for revival in America, believing spiritual awakening begins with repentance, prayer, and faithful proclamation of the Gospel.
