A Prayer Guide for Schools: How to Pray for Teachers, Students, Parents, and Campus Revival

Across America, reports of students gathering for prayer, repentance, and Gospel proclamation reveal spiritual hunger on college campuses. AWAKE America has documented student-led prayer in Idaho, thousands gathering at Baylor University, and significant Gospel responses at UCF and Clemson. Yet every elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and homeschool community is a mission field filled with people who need the saving power of Jesus Christ.

Christians must not wait for a public revival meeting before praying for their local schools. We can begin now—praying consistently, specifically, and according to God’s Word.

Pray for Students to Know Jesus Christ

The greatest need in every school is not achievement, popularity, or opportunity. It is salvation. Pray that students will recognize their sin, hear the Gospel clearly, repent, and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone. Ask God to send faithful believers who will explain the Gospel with compassion and conviction.

Pray from Romans 1:16, remembering that the Gospel “is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”

Pray for Courage to Stand for Biblical Truth

Christian students face pressure to remain silent, compromise their convictions, or conform to beliefs that contradict Scripture. Pray that they will not be ashamed of Christ. Ask God to give them courage that is humble, wise, and unwavering—not driven by fear or the approval of others.

Pray 1 Corinthians 16:13: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

Pray for Biblical Discernment

Students encounter competing ideas about identity, morality, purpose, truth, and human worth. Pray that they will measure every message against the inerrant Word of God. Ask the Lord to expose deception, renew their minds, and help them recognize what leads away from Christ.

Pray through Romans 12:2, asking God to transform students by renewing their minds so they can discern His will.

Pray for Protection

Schools face spiritual, emotional, and physical dangers. Pray for protection from violence, abuse, bullying, addiction, exploitation, anxiety, self-harm, and destructive relationships. Ask God to expose hidden threats and give teachers, parents, counselors, administrators, and law enforcement wisdom to respond quickly and justly.

Pray Psalm 121:7-8 over students and staff, trusting the Lord to watch over their lives.

Pray for Faithful Christian Teachers and Staff

Christian educators often serve quietly in difficult environments. Pray that they will teach with excellence, treat every student with dignity, and remain faithful to Christ without neglecting their professional responsibilities. Ask God to strengthen them and provide appropriate opportunities to demonstrate the integrity, wisdom, and love of Jesus.

Pray that they will work “with all your heart, as working for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23).

Pray for Parents and Families

Parents carry the primary responsibility for discipling their children. Pray that they will not surrender that calling to schools, technology, peers, or culture. Ask God to give them wisdom, attentiveness, courage, and perseverance. Pray for homes marked by Scripture, prayer, repentance, discipline, and love.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 commands parents to impress God’s wordsupon their children throughout daily life.

Pray for School Boards and Administrators

School boards, superintendents, principals, and administrators make decisions that shape learning environments. Pray that God will restrain harmful agendas, expose corruption, and raise up leaders who value truth, justice, parental responsibility, safety, and academic excellence. Pray for believers in these roles to act courageously and without compromise.

Following 1 Timothy 2:1-2, intercede for those in authority so communities may live peaceful and godly lives.

Pray for Student-Led Gospel Witness

Pray for Christian students to form prayer groups, open their Bibles, invite classmates to church, share their testimonies, serve the isolated, and clearly explain the Gospel. Ask God to open doors that no opposition can close. Pray that their witness produces genuine conversion and lasting discipleship—not temporary emotion.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). Pray that students will shine boldly so others see Christ.

Choose one local school and commit to pray for it each week. Learn the names of its leaders, teachers, coaches, and student organizations. Invite your church, small group, or family to join you.

Campus revival does not begin with publicity. It begins when God’s people humble themselves, believe His Word, and faithfully intercede for the next generation.
