Christian Revival News: 72 Hours of Prayer Ignites Baylor Campus

According to CBN News, thousands of Baylor students gathered from March 30 through April 2 for “FM72,” a 72-hour prayer and worship event held at the center of campus.

The Baylor Lariat reported that approximately 3,000 students attended nightly gatherings, filling Fountain Mall with worship, Scripture reading, and intercession.

Organized through Baylor’s Office of Spiritual Life and campus ministries, the event featured a round-the-clock prayer tent, allowing students to pray day and night.

Charles Ramsey, Ph.D., associate chaplain at Baylor, emphasized the spiritual focus:

“Prayer is powerful. Things happen when we pray.”

Speakers included Lisa Koons of the 24-7 Prayer Movement, who challenged students to center their lives fully on Christ.

Reports indicate that at least 35 students gave their lives to Christ, with many participating in water baptisms following the event.

The Baylor Lariat confirmed that over 60 baptisms occurred in 2026, marking a visible response among students seeking deeper commitment.

One student testified before baptism:

“He transformed my life, and I want to live every day for Him.”

A Movement Rooted in History and Spreading Nationwide

The FM72 gathering traces its origins to a 1945 revival at Baylor, when students prayed for 90 consecutive days, sparking a movement that spread across the nation.

Today, similar revival expressions are appearing on campuses nationwide, following notable awakenings like Asbury University in 2023.

According to Decision Magazine, this resurgence reflects growing spiritual interest among Generation Z, reversing long-predicted declines in faith.

Christian Perspective: Revival Stirring a Generation to Seek God

While reports document attendance and baptisms, Scripture provides the lens for understanding what may be unfolding.

The Bible declares:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray… then I will hear from heaven.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Moments like Baylor’s 72-hour prayer gathering reflect a hunger for God that cannot be manufactured. When young people turn from distraction to devotion, Scripture teaches that God responds to repentance, prayer, and surrender.
