PORTLAND, Ore. (Aug. 11 2025) — A wave of prayer and worship swept through Portland as thousands gathered at the Moda Center for the Portland Christian Revival Crusade, a citywide event uniting churches and believers across denominations. Organizers described the gathering as a visible answer to prayer for revival in America.
A Citywide Call to Revival
According to Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB), the two-day PDX Crusade filled the 19,000-seat Moda Center with worshippers from across Oregon and Washington. Churches partnered together to host the event, emphasizing unity in Christ during a time of political and cultural division.
Key speakers included evangelist Luis Palau’s son, Andrew Palau, and guest apologist Dr. Sean McDowell. Christian recording artists led extended worship, creating an atmosphere that many attendees described as “overwhelmingly Spirit-filled.”
“You could sense that God was at work in this city. People were praying with tears, families were worshiping together, and young people were responding to the gospel,” said one local pastor, according to OPB.
Baptisms and Commitments
Coverage by The Oregonian highlighted that over 500 individuals made first-time or renewed commitments to Christ during altar calls. Dozens participated in on-site baptisms in portable pools set up outside the venue, a powerful public declaration of faith.
Event organizers stressed that this was not a performance but a movement: “We’re not here to build a brand. We’re here to call Portland back to Jesus Christ,” said Andrew Palau.
Local Partnerships and Community Impact
As reported by Christian Post, more than 150 area churches partnered to prepare months in advance. Volunteer teams served both inside the arena and in outreach efforts across the city. Organizers said that the event was not only about the gathering but about long-term discipleship through follow-up prayer groups and local church connections.
Key highlights included:
- 500+ commitments to Christ, many of them young adults
- Dozens baptized outside the Moda Center
- 150+ churches partnered across denominations
- Two nights of worship, preaching, and apologetics teaching
- On-site prayer ministry teams serving attendees
Voices from the Event
KATU News reported on families who traveled from as far as Idaho and California to attend. One mother described seeing her teenage son walk forward during the altar call as “the moment I’ve prayed for his whole life.”
Meanwhile, skeptics and seekers were also present. During Friday’s session, Dr. Sean McDowell hosted an open Q&A titled “If God, Why Evil?” where college students asked challenging questions about suffering and faith.
Kingdom Perspective
The Portland revival reflects the biblical promise of Habakkuk 3:2: “Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known.” Many believe these gatherings are signs that God is stirring hearts in a spiritually weary nation.
Pulling Together for America’s Future
As one attendee told OPB, “Portland has been known for division and unrest. Tonight, it was known for worship.”
This revival was not an isolated event but part of a broader movement sweeping cities across the country, including upcoming AWAKE America prayer rallies in Boston (Oct. 24–25) and Washington, D.C. (Nov. 15)
